SQL Delta Features

Compare and synchronize both schema and data for Microsoft SQL Server 7, 2000, 2005, 2008.

Fast performance.

Create projects to manage often repeated comparisons. Connection manager retains common connections for fast recall.
Advanced command line script processor to auto execute compare and synchronize. Includes ability to email alerts or scripts, all defined in xml script file.
Compare from backups
Ability to create a new database, ideal for moving selected parts of one database to another.

Structure Compare

Compare all schema objects in a database
Generate synchronize scripts plus execute scripts from SQL Delta
Create schema snapshots and perform offline comparison.
Compare diagrams
Compare and update full text catalogues
Unique, easy to read display of table compare information
Optional case sensitive structure comparison
Object owner mapping allows the user to map one or more database owners to another. Note 1
Extensive database object search capability
Large array of filters for displaying specific schema information
Ability to view data of a table or view directly from schema compare. This feature may help a user contextualize the differences that may exist between two tables or views.
Update * (star) views tool allows the user to correct possible inconsistencies within SQL Server where a view contains a "select * ..." statement and the underlying table has been changed.
Qualify names tool allows the user to correct object name inconsistencies where an object has been renamed within the enterprise manager.
Extensive reporting including the ability to print the entire database schema along with a detailed comparison report.
Script view syntax highlighting
Unique! Synchronizes in multi direction directly from SQL Delta. In a single synchronize process you can update both databases. Note 2
Copy parts or all of the script from script compare window for all objects including tables
Preserve Column order option
Alert for column order difference
Copy and Save scripts for later use
Automatic Dependency management

Data Compare

Supports user defined key specification as well as Primary key or unique key Note 3
User defined compare columns
Filtering of data within compare tables
Choose update rows on a row by row basis
View difference rows in context with same data. This is quite a unique feature allowing you to see the differences inline with the same data. Very helpful when analyzing why and where data differences occur.
Also view difference rows separately from same data.
Multi directional synchronizing. The data synchronize process can update both databases within the one process. Note 4
Compares BLOBS as well can ignore Timestamp and GUID fields

Other

Integrated updates, SQL Delta can check and self-update

System requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher
  • 50mb disk space
  • 256mb RAM
  • 800x600
  • Microsoft SQL Server 7 or 2000, 2005, 2008
  • MDAC 2.6 or higher (you can download from Microsoft for free if needed)

You don't need any SQL Server client utilities.

Note 1
You can map one or more owners from the source database to one or more owners in the target database. This is ideal for cases where a development database utilizes lower security than a production database, allowing you to keep the databases in sync without sacrificing security.

Note 2
SQL Delta provides a unique feature where you can perform multi-directional scripting. You can send changes for one object (such as table) in one direction and changes to another object in a different direction all in the one session. For example you can script the changes to Products from database A to B and for Customers from database B to A.

Note 3
In some cases a table may not have a primary key or unique index however there are fields that combined to generate a unique ID that can be used for data comparison. SQL Delta lets you choose your own fields to perform the comparison. This is also useful where the primary key is not the ideal unique key and an alternate key is preferred.

Note 4
You can send your data changes in both directions within the same session. Like schema scripting the data comparison update lets you choose one table to update from database A to B and another table to update from database B to A.
